14. Worst thing to ever happen to you? My apartment burnt, my aunt died, I lost my job and I got dumped from a 5-year relationship all within a 2 year period. But that really wasn't the worst; that would have been watching my mum die slowly over 5 years.
15. Tell me one weird fact about you. I survived a stabbing.
16. Do you have any pets? 12 guinea pigs, a red-eared turtle, a Sudan plated lizard, an African hedgehog and a 20 year old cat (excuse me-goddess).

1. Can you cook? For certain values of cook, yes. (Those values being ‘microwaved,’ ‘heat-and-serve,’ and, oddly, ‘baked from scratch.’)
2. What was your dream growing up? I wanted to be an astronaut. Then, when I realized how much I sucked at math, I wanted to be a spinster comic book writer.

No, can't make the Canada trip this year, but we're aiming for WHC in Utah in 08. The only cons we'll be doing this year will most likely be local cons, and RE Howard Days. Maybe one to Tulsa, OK.

Ah well... and to tell the truth, I'm not sure about WHC in Utah. I probably will go, but the fact is that the popularity of the con seems to be diminishing, and I'm hoping TO and Utah don't prove to be the nails in the proverbial coffin.

I think Toronto was just too far and too expensive and too much of a hassel with all the passport stuff [not to mention the added expense of the passports for those without one] to gamble on the con being "that good" to warrant all the expenses. WFC set us back nearly $1000 and we drove there...and it proved boring and so not worth the $.

1. Can you cook?
- Sort of. I do best with some manner of instructions, but can typically put something together without them. Mostly, it just sort of depends on what we've got in.

2. What was your dream growing up?
- Getting the hell out of my hometown was the only consistent one. Don't say dreams don't come true.

3. What talent do you wish you had?
- I've always sort of wished I was one of those really physically talented people that could do great wushu stuff. I can move my body through space, but it's just not very impressive.

4. Favorite place?
- There's a spot in Columbia Cemetery I like to go once a year and have a picnic. It's sort of a special spot.

5. Favorite vegetable?
- This is crazy talk, but I recently made friends with asparagus, my ancient childhood nemesis. This stuff is amazing. Also, artichokes.

6. What was the last book you read?
- Last book I finished: Ursula K. LeGuin's The Left Hand of Darkness. In progress now, Dan Savage's Skipping Toward Gomorrah and Dave Eggers' You Shall Know Our Velocity!.

7. What zodiac sign are you?
- Aquarius (Cancer rising, Virgo moon). In China, I'm an Earth Goat.

8. Any Tattoos and/or Piercings?
- Yup. Several. And not all of them are visible.

9. Worst Habit?
- Procrastination. I am always, ALWAYS putting things off and stressing myself out about them.

10. Do we know each other outside of Livejournal?
- No, but you know my friend John outside of LJ.

11. What is your favorite sport?
- I like to watch hockey and soccer. I enjoy playing dodgeball.

- I like to think of myself as being a sarcastic optimist. I like to be witty and make fun of things, but really I'm typically pretty satisfied with my lot.

13. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?
- Wonder why we're so geographically proximate, probably. Make chit-chat. Ask newbie writer questions.

14. Worst thing to ever happen to you?
- Marrying my ex. Make no mistake -- I learned a lot about myself -- but damn. That was a bad scene.

15. Tell me one weird fact about you.
- There is not a color in the natural or crayola spectrum my hair has not been at least once. And at one point, I had blacklight reactive LED green hair.

16. Do you have any pets?
- We've got a 2-year-old lab mix and two geckoes.

- Only to the Sisters of Mercy.

18. What time is it where you are now?
- Just a bit after 7 AM.

- You know, I'm actually kind of bored of them. I have clown fatigue.

- My chest.

- Depends on what you're doing. The ongoing joke is that I'm Lawful Good, so violating unjust laws would be the way to go around me.

- Brown hazel.

23. Ever been arrested?
- No, but I came close once many years ago.

24. Bottle or Draft?
- Bottle. NA beer doesn't usually happen as a draft.

25. If you won $10,000 dollars today, what would you do with it?
- Pay off the serious bills, sort legal status stuff, buy a laptop.

26. What kind of bubble gum do you prefer to chew?
- Altoids. It's a very intense gum experience.

27. What's your favorite bar to hang at?
- I'm kind of sensitive to smoke, so I'm not much of a barfly. There's a club that does a retro night here in town, though, and CoMo just banned smoking, so I guess I should start going.

28. Do you believe in ghosts?
- I am cautiously optimistic on the matter of ghosts.

29. Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
- Read, write, play games.

30. Do you swear a lot?
- Like a motherfucking sailor. Shit.

31. Biggest pet peeve?
- People who use "gay" to describe something they find distasteful or silly.

- Mutable.

- Abstract.

Probably not this year. I have a serious case of a) broke, and b) imposter's syndrome. Having no publication credits, I'm not a "real writer" -- I'm a pilot fish.

I do think I'm probably going to try and hit WFC in Alberta in '08, though. I figure I'll have enough rejection slips stored up by then to have gotten over it. Heh.

I understand. Just remember that you have to go at some point, and don't let the "imposter's syndrom" deter you. Even if you go with some credits, there will still be that sense of being the outsider... unless you hang with John, in which case we'll make ya feel welcome.
